SUPER SOAKERS – The King of the Water Gun

Super Soakers were brought into our lives in 1990. Originally called Power Drenchers, the creators of the first air pressurized water gun changed the name once TV ads and publicity started in 1991. The Super Soaker was invented by a man named Lonnie Johnston and the patent is now owned by Hasbro.

The Super Soaker has undergone many changes and models over the years and celebrated its 20th anniversary with a new version of the original Super Soaker 50. (seen atop this article) This new version has a fixed reservoir for water filling. (The original had the green tank you had to screw on and off to fill).

A man named Chris Reid has a collection of all the Super Soakers ever released. Here is a photo of him with his collection. How many Super Soakers did you own?
